Inspiration in early childhood

CERIA Preschool at Palembang south Sumatra Indonesia

Rhama's class is from Palembang south Sumatra Indonesia. Rhama often checks into the Teach Preschool site on Facebook and finds activities to do with her students. Most of these activities are not my ideas, rather ideas from my fellow bloggers. On occasion Rhama will share photos of her class participating in an activity inspired by one of the posts on our wall. Here are a couple of photos Rhama shared with us most recently...

Rhama mentioned in a short note: (Debora , u r my inspiration *) under her photo.  What a blessing that was to me but the reality is, Rhama inspires me!

Thank you to all who share with me your successes at home and at school - I am truly blessed by this.

Missing in Action

Sorry to have been missing in action for the past week! I will be back soon but first I have to finish tons of homework for my class, get some sleep, and then write up some more posts! In the mean time, here is a picture of what it looks like at my house right now and it is still snowing!!

Will be back ASAP so hang in there with me okay?

Sharing Ideas in early childhood with people all over the world

The internet has provided the profound platform of being able to share ideas, articles, and resources with early childhood educators and parents from all over the world.

If I would have had the opportunity as a young teacher, I would have loved to travel to other countries around the world and share ideas with other early childhood educators. But for me, the opportunity to travel never presented itself. I think that is why I am now so deeply excited about having the opportunity to share over the internet.

As many of you know, I not only have two blogs but I also have a Facebook fan page called Teach Preschool and a Twitter profile called Teach Preschool. Essentially, I use these two social networking tools to share ideas that either I have written or others have written with teachers and parents of preschoolers.

Recently, I shared a link to a cute little tiger posted by No Time For Flashcards in celebration of the Chinese New Year: The Year of the Tiger.  To my delight and privilege, a teacher on my Facebook site shared a picture with us from her classroom. She gave me permission to share her pictures with you.

Is this one of the most adorable pictures? What I found so amazing is that a simple idea was shared on a blog here in the US and someone far away in Indonesia liked the idea, shared it with her students, and then shared a picture with us. This is awesome, cool, amazing, and touches my heart.

Here is the class hard at work...

Thank you Rahma for sharing this with us and to No Time For Flashcards for sharing ideas that reach across the world!

A note from Deborah

Hello Everyone!
I have let a full week go by without posting something new for you to check out. Not to worry - I have been taking some new pictures and preparing some new information that I hope you will enjoy throughout the next few weeks. This week, I will be talking about such topics as play dough, music, show and tell, birthday parties, and adding a few new quicktips you might find useful. I hope everyone has enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday and I am sure everyone is getting ready for the Holidays to come.

Be sure to check in often this week - there should be something new on most, if not every day. It just depends on how quickly I can get it all written and posted. Thanks for following me and your continued dedication to the field of early childhood education.

Wecome Message

The purpose of this blog is to focus on the advancement of early childhood best practices in the average childcare or preschool setting. This blog will introduce very basic ideas and concepts for the beginning teacher as well as provide thought provoking considerations for the more seasoned early childhood educator.

I have a Master's Degree in Early Chilhood Education and over 20 years experience in the field of early childhood education. The older I get the more I value and recognize the needs of young children and the important role the preschool teacher has in their lives. I hope to build, motivate, train, and promote excellence on behalf of our youngest learners. I hope you will join me.

To begin, this blog will be updated every Monday and we will see where it should go from there.
